She glanced over at him as he stammered his boyfriend's name and a small grin slid across her lips as she saw the blush. He probably hadn't meant to mention his boyfriend, but it was all good. Now she knew to put him completely under the 'Just Friends' header.
Sunshine liked knowing where she stood with people, obviously.
At Sheba's question of helping, she laughed before glancing forward and spotting her junk heap of a car. As stated, it was parked crookedly and taking up two parking spaces. There were rust spots on the car and really one couldn't tell if it was originally a baby blue or a pale green. There were a few remnants of bumper stickers on the car, usually only single words or part of them visible.
"Well, that's my ride," she started, nodding toward it and hiding a small wince, "And it looks like crap but it'll carry the oven." 'I hope,' she added to herself.

he asked, shifting his weight from foot to foot. Yes, he new he was nitpicking about it--but who could blame him after seeing a car like that. He liked Sunny, and trusted her, but... She seemed to take life in stride. Sheba couldn't even say if she thought she'd be bothered if they did break down.[/ul]

If the car could speak, she was sure it would be shrieking curse words at her. The oven lowered the back bumper of the car a good few inches, letting her know immediately that it would be a slow drive back to the academy. Well, unless she wanted to grind her bumpers on the ground.
A slow grin slid across her lips at Sheba's obvious uncertainty of the car. Quickly, she put on a mock-thoughtful look and stroked her chin as she considered the car, as if she were a gallery owner inspecting a piece of art.
"Hmm...well. I must say the thing looks like crap...but...it's structural integrity is sound," she said, making her voice slow and deep. Then, she giggled a bit, "So, yeah, it should make it. If it doesn't, I'll be mad."
It wasn't quite a confirmation of his question, but she quickly used bungee chords to strap the oven down more firmly before skipping to the drivers side door. Glancing at Sheba, she smiled, "You ready?"

moved his head in a slow nod, though he was still more than concerned for his and Rae's safety. Trying to ignore the way the car clearly protested its treatment, he hopped in as well, immediately clicking the seatbelt shut. If they were going down, he was going to go down safely. "As ready as I'll ever be, in this monster," the blonde grumbled, staring out straight ahead as he tried not to focus on the fact he was in a strange vehicle with someone whose driving habits he didn't know. Sheba hated watching people, aside from his father, drive--his mother being the space cadet she was. Even Dagger, who despite having a black eye every few weeks, was a cautious driver, but Sheba didn't trust his boyfriend enough to sit in the same car for long periods of time. Ah well. At least it was comfy. He glanced over to the girl, offered a nervous smile, then cleared his throat. "Uh. Well, you know I'm in a relationship...What about you, Sunny?"[/ul]

She couldn't resist the huge grin that spread across her lips at his grumbled response. She found it amusing that she wasn't the only one who would insult the car.
Putting the key in the ignition, she turned it. It stuttered for about two minutes before it caught and roared to life. With a happy smile, she patted the steering wheel, as if rewarding the car for doing what it was supposed to.
As she pulled out of the parking lot, the car made groaning noises. Tapping the steering wheel slightly in irritation and allowing her eyebrows to furrow slightly, the noises quieted and she let a tiny grin play across her lips again.
She blinked in surprise at his question, glancing over quickly before looking back at the road, "Oh! Um...single. Veery single right now. I had a boyfriend up until a month ago, I think it is now. Turns out he was just in it for my cinnamon rolls."
Sunshine didn't think before saying it and thought nothing of it after, but the phrase could be taken in quite a few ways. Not many would really think she meant literally.

the blonde mumbled, then fell silent in his seat. After a moment, he shyly glanced over, shrugging lightly. "Uhm. I don't really...know what to, uh...talk about."[/ul]

Sunshine missed the shocked expression and just continued driving down the road, glancing side to side every once in a while when the car would make a questionable noise. She seemed unbothered by them, of course, but it was almost as if she was just going through the motions of appearing concerned.
His admission caused her to look over in surprise before another smile slipped across her lips, "Oh! I'm sorry, I'm neglecting you. It's fine." She thought for a moment, her eyes drifting back to the road before she suddenly turned back to him, "Well, tell me about your boyfriend then! I'm sure he's an interesting fellow, right?"

For a moment, he fidgeted, but then he nodded and mumbled, "I'm not...too good in cars."Sheba paused, taking a deep breath. He held it a few seconds, then exhaled, eyes wandering to stare straight ahead. His lips flattened to a thin line while he thought, but then a small grin twitched into place. "Uhm, hmn. Where to start..." The boy chuckled softly, brushing a few strands of hair out of his eyes. "Dagger...He started out as a tutor, of sorts. I didn't really realize I liked him until...Someone, ah, picked a fight.
"It...wasn't fair, and he ended up having to go to the hospital where my dad, uh, works. My dad's a doctor." He paused, frowning and mentally kicking himself in the head for saying something so obvious. "Anyways, I ended up breaking up with my girlfriend that night. She's fine, though, we're still friends..." [/ul]

She gave a small grin at his comment about it being good she was concentrating on driving before turning her eyes back to the road. If ever she concentrated on driving, the world would end, she was quite sure. Never, in all her years of driving, had she ever really /concentrated/ on it. It was just something she trusted her hands and feet to do...every once in a while without her eyes to help them.
Listening to his story, Sunshine couldn't help but smile. It was a really cute story. This Dagger kid had even /fought/ for Sheba. Now /that/ was cool.
She nodded as he talked about breaking up with his girlfriend, but them still being friends, "That's a good thing." She paused, "What's he like? Dagger, I mean? Are you two a lot alike or anything?"

he repeated blankly, then retreated into his thoughts to sort it out some. "Well... I wouldn't really say we're the same... He's smarter, and stronger than I am. Actually gives a damn about school, though you wouldn't guess it just by looking at him."A small smile painted its way into place, and he switched his gaze out the side window, body relaxing as he got more accustomed to the idea of the girl behind the wheel. "We, uh. We both smoke--though my habit is his fault." For a brief moment, Sheba flicked his eyes over to Sunny to see her reaction, then went back to watching the scenery pass them by.[/ul]
